Situation

The economical and ecological development is presenting itself as continually greater threat to these people. From an economical point of view, it is the development of centers which bring with them a strong migration to the cities an finally the creation of ghettos in which a formerly rural population must now fight for their survival in the city. From an ecological point of view, there is less and less fertile land. This is a direct threat to their basic means of existence, animal husbandry. In addition, the rural population is being pushed back by "civilization".

Despite these developments, the Samburus should be allowed to continue to live in their calling as a tribe of warriors by fighting with peaceful means for the preservation of their community. Through local humanitarian projects Hope for Samburus supports an encourages these people to invest themselves and their skills in these projects and to harvest the fruits of their own labor.
